I am unconvinced by the airport's masterplan document that "states that the only guaranteed period when there will be no flights is between 1.00am and 5.30am". In reality, it will be a lot worse than this because delayed flights will doubtless be allowed to land during that period. Recent figures from Heathrow airport show that it breached its quota for nightflights by 17% in the winter of 2006/07 (BBC London News, 26th September 2007) and exactly the same situation is likely to arise at Blackpool. Thus even the period between 1.00am and 5.30am is unlikely to be restful for nearby residents.
