Fylde Liberal Democrats have again chosen Professor Bill Winlow to be their candidate at the next General Election. He was formally adopted at the Fylde Liberal Democrats AGM on 15th November 2007. Chair of the Selection Committee, Annette Ford, said: "Bill Winlow has the maturity and political experience that a Constituency like Fylde needs. He was a Leeds City Councillor for thirteen years, of which six were as Group Leader and three as Opposition Leader. Bill, as a resident of Fylde, understands the Constituency and the needs of our senior citizens as well as those of younger people"'.

Professional Bill Winlow Bill is a neuroscientist who nowadays works as a Principal Medical Writer for a specialist publisher. His wife, Pam, is currently Chairman of Newton with Clifton Parish Council and they have 3 adult children. He fought the Fylde seat at the 2005 election and increased the Liberal Democrat Vote. Commenting on his adoption Bill said: "I am delighted to have been readopted for my home constituency of Fylde. Of all the challenges that now face us, climate change poses the biggest long-term threat and will have direct effects here on the Fylde. The location of new housing will have to be carefully examined to prevent flooding and will need to be built to the highest possible standards to reduce energy use. Our farmers will also face increasing difficulties as climate changes and we will all need to pay more for our food as agricultural practice changes. Fortunately the policies developed by the Liberal Democrats over many years are all underpinned by our environmental concerns and I fully subscribe to them. As a nation, we need to act positively to make the necessary changes to our life styles and we need to do so quickly".
