Airport - demand for public meeting

January 28, 2008 8:00 PM

"It would be irresponsible for the council not to apply for article four powers with respect to Blackpool Airport. It is hard to see why the council is so unwilling to respond to mounting public concern over the airport development," says Bill Winlow, prospective parliamentary candidate for the Fylde.

The flight paths cover most of Fylde and certainly we see and hear the planes passing over such distant villages such as Newton with Scales and Warton. This is a Fylde-wide issue and should not be brushed under the carpet by our current administration.

The local traffic and transport infrastructure of both Fylde and Blackpool will eventually be unable to cope. "Fylde cabinet genuinely needs to start planning for the future and not burying its collective heads in the sand."
