On the Protest March

Prof. Bill Willow, prospective Parliamentary Liberal Democrat Candidate for the Fylde joined over a thousand local residents on the Save our Baths protest march in Kirkham on Saturday.

Kirkham Baths are under threat as a result of financial mismanagement and incompetence by the ruling Conservative Group on Fylde Borough Council who have led the authority into debts of over £1 million pounds. Since taking power in 2003, Council Leader John Coombes has presided over a shambles and the latest debacle is the Streetscene budget, which is already overspent by £609,000 and the financial yet isn't over yet !!

Fylde Liberal Democrats are convinced that the Swimming Pools in both Kirkham and St. Anne's are vital assets to the people of the Fylde and St. Anne's councillors Tony Ford and Howard Henshaw have been working with the other Opposition members to identify significant budget savings which would help to keep the pools open.

" Electors should be in no doubt that it is the Conservative group that threaten the future of the pools," said Professor Bill Winlow.
