Residents in Westgate Road off Squires Gate Lane are thrilled to learn that plans for a housing development at the back of their homes were turned down by Fylde Development Control committee yesterday. The development, which included 2 four storey blocks of flats didn't offer sufficient play area space and would have created tremendous parking and access problems in the area. Ward Councillor Howard Henshaw said.
Long stay car park under threat
"This is really good news for the Westgate Road residents."
St. Anne's Town Council had commented unfavourably about the proposals several months ago. The site is currently used as a long-stay car park but until the new owners of Blackpool Airport publish their Masterplan the site's future remains uncertain.
