Those Fylde residents suffering under the present financial situation are unlikely to be impressed by the sayings of George Osborne. It was the Tories in the 1980's who started de-regulation of financial services including the 1986 Building Societies Act which allowed a new breed of mortgage lenders, often financed by overseas banks, to enter the market. It's been downhill ever since with only LibDem Vince Cable issuing public words of warning.
