Cllr. Howard Henshaw,Leader of Fylde LibDems welcomes water quality success at St. Annes North and South beaches.
Water quality - tourism boost
Both St. Annes beaches have recently passed a major quality test which shows that the bathing water is of a good quality, suitable for swimming. The results were welcomed by Fylde Liberal Democrats who want more visitors to visit the town to boost tourism.
Cllr. Henshaw said, "Tourism is vital to our local economy so I am delighted our beaches have passed the quality test. It may be a bit chilly at the moment but next year we want lots of people to come here and have a great holiday.
"Having clean beaches and bathing water is vital to attract visitors to the Fylde coast."
"The drop in the value of the the pound means foreign holidays will be more expensive so there has never been a better time for people can come to Lytham St. Annes instead. Tourists have the chance of a great value holiday and can enjoy the very best of what we have to offer."
The tests were carried out by environmental watchdog, the Environment Agency, which tested every main beach in the UK.
