Bill Winlow - proud to be a Fylde Resident
I was interested to read M Ashworth's letter (Express, 4th December 2008) regarding the new Conservative candidate for Fylde. As it happens the Labour candidate is a Liverpool councillor, which means he lives in Liverpool and not in this area. As the Liberal Democrat candidate for Fylde, I am pleased to say that I have lived on the Fylde for all of this century, and very much look forward to being the only local candidate from the three major parties at the next General Election.
Professor Bill Winlow.
Note: Mr Ashworth's letter criticised the Tories for selecting someone from another country (Scotland) and for selecting someone who has stood as a candidate and failed 3 times, twice in Scotland and once Yorkshire. Mr Ashworth would like to see someone of English extraction with some knowledge of the area and more in sympathy with the needs of Fylde's voters.
