Lib Dems win yet another seat from the Conservatives

Fiona Whelan - another winning Liberal Democrat
Fiona Whelan, the Liberal Democrat candidate, has won the County Council by-election in the Hardwick division. She raised the Liberal Democrat share of the vote from 35% at the last election in 2005 to over 49%, winning the seat from the Conservatives with a majority of 200. The results, announced just before midnight on November 27th, were:
Fiona Whelan (Liberal Democrat): 1369
John Ionides (Conservative): 1169
Helan Haugh (Labour): 208.
