Bob Fielding's Fairhaven Ward campaigning starts

January 4, 2009 3:37 PM

Bob Fielding gets his campaigning underway this week in Fairhaven Ward. Bob, a resident of St. Anne's is standing for a place on St. Anne's Town Council left vacant following resignation of Cllr. Walker in October last year.

Bob has been involved in local affairs for some time and campaigned strongly against the closure of St. Anne's Swimming Pool. Together with his wife Anne, they joined the 3000-strong protest march against the Tory-instigated closure. He also queried the unfairness of the new charges levied for elderly swimmers at Kirkham Pool by the Borough Council.

Bob has long-standing interests in Architecture and the Built Environment and supports the view that badly designed buildings and environmental conditions can promote antisocial behaviour. He has concerns about climate change and the local environment and is the main coordinator for Residents Organisation for Airport Review (R.O.A.R) and attends the meetings of Blackpool Airport's Joint Consultative Committee. He hopes to work with the new owners to lessen the negative impact that the airport's operations have on the people of St. Anne's.

Bob has a background in Manufacturing Engineering has lived in St. Anne's for over 30 years. As well as being a member of the Fylde Citizens Awareness Group he has recently become a Governor of Lytham St.Anne's Technology and Performing Arts College. Bob is no stranger to campaigning, having stood as a candidate in the borough elections in 2007

Cllr. Tony Ford, Deputy Mayor of St. Anne's Town Council said, "I fully support Bob Fielding as a candidate, he will make a good councillor. I will be working with him as will the rest of our growing Liberal Democrat team to help him win the Fairhaven seat."
