Bob Fielding wins by a landslide

Lib.Dem candidate Bob Fielding won the Fairhaven Bye-election, by a landslide, to take his place on St. Annes on the Sea Town Council. The votes cast were as follows:
Bob Fielding Lib.Dem 239 45%
Bill Whitehead Independent 107 20%
Peter Wood Commonsense Ind. 101 19%
Alfred Jealous Notary Public 79 15%
Campaign co-ordinator Tony Ford said "We are so pleased that residents who said they would support us when we talked to them on the doorstep carried that support right through to the ballot box in significant numbers."
"Our campaign was all about talking to people, not offering gimmicks such as winning bottles of champagne by ticking a predetermined set of responses in a survey. We listened openly and carefully to the views of residents and we now plan to act on them."
