Congratulations go to Liberal Democrat candidate Brian Redwood who took a seat off the Independents on Torridge District Council with a 64% share of the vote, an increase of 32%. A great result. Clearly the electorate 'wanted better and chose better', by preferring a Liberal Democrat as their councillor.
Other election results saw the Conservatives pushed into 5th place behind the BNP and the Independents in St Helens Parr ward, whilst in Rainhill ward, Liberal Democrat Denise Aspinall increased her share of the vote by 17% to finish in second place with twice as many votes as the Tory candidate who finished third.
