Borrowing and bad debt is at the root of the current recession, so what do the Tories on Lancashire County Council do? They take on an additional £40 million pounds of borrowing! Does it make sense to you? A Tory spokesman said that this budget puts Lancashire taxpayers first ! It certainly does! They will be the first to have to pay off the debt in future years !! Tories on Fylde Borough Council have also taken on more debt in order to prop up the black hole in their budget.
So Labour lead us into a financial crisis and the Tories compound it by borrowing even more. Can you really trust either party to solve the country's problems? Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesperson Vince Cable has been strong on providing workable solutions to address our ailing economy and put us on a firmer financial footing.
County Councillor Bill Winlow, Parliamentary candidate for Fylde and Deputy Leader of LCC Liberal Democrat Group says, "During the election period, the Conservatives promised to maintain services AND not put up council tax. We said then that it couldn't be done because the numbers didn't add up. Now we see that both promises were stretching the truth because services will be "prioritised", which means that some will be cut, and eventually council tax payers will have to pay off the £40 million debt that the Conservatives have created, in addition to the financial problems caused by the previous Lancashire Labour administration. At county level the Conservatives are no better at running things than they are on Fylde. Can we really trust them to run the national government?"
