Lib Dems could hold the balance of power

The Conservatives keep suggesting that Liberal Democrats can't win in Lancashire. From the responses on the doorsteps it would appear that the Tories can't win here either!
What our opponents fail to realise is that Liberal Democrats only need to win a small number of seats to hold the balance of power and so effectively restrict the excesses of Conservative and Labour policies. For the last twelve years at Westminster we have suffered from the power drunk abuse of a big majority. Just by winning a crucial number of seats, Liberal Democrat supporters and Councillors can be more influential. In this way we might see Councillors from different parties working together for the good of the electorate rather than slavishly following the party whip.
