Whether you love it or loathe it, or have any shade of opinion in between, the EU is here, the UK is a member of it, it will not go away and nor can the UK leave it any time soon. That simple statement of fact makes the election of European Members of Parliament on Thursday 4th June very important so please vote. The Liberal Democrats in the European Parliament, (especially our NW MEP Chris Davies), work tirelessly, and in collaboration with like minded MEPs from other countries, to deal with a wide range of issues, such as environmental pollution, that simply do not recognise national boundaries. This group leads the way in advocating reform of the EU. Chris, in particular, is urging reform of MEPs expenses. His own have always been completely transparent. By contrast David Cameron wants to take his MEPs out of the main Centre Right Group & align it with fringe extremists thus rendering them almost completely ineffective. The UKIP leader boasts that he has pocketed £2m in expenses; one of his colleagues has been jailed for benefit fraud; and another is defending charges of false accounting. To go with the criminal record of his leader,a NW candidate for the BNP lists his hobby as "Devising slow and terrible ways of paying back the Guardian - reading ***** who have betrayed the British people". It really does matter whom you vote for as MEP.
