Liberal Democrat, Dave Kent, won the crucial by-election in the Moss Bank ward of St.Helens Council with a stunning 469 vote majority over Labour. The Conservative gained a mere 111 votes. The election followed the tragic death of LibDem Cllr. Anne Heyes and Dave's victory means that the Lib Dems, with 19 seats, control the Council with support from the 6 Conservatives. Had Labour won they could have regained control.
