Liberal Democrat influence in Europe

For the next five years NW Liberal Democrat MEP, Chris Davies, widely regarded as one of the hardest working MEP's, will lead the European Liberal (ALDE) group on the influential Environment Committee in the European Parliament. The votes of this group are often decisive. The North West now has a seat at the top levels of European decision making on climate change, protecting our natural environment and ensuring the the EU creates new jobs and takes the green road out of the recession. Commenting on his job Chris said "Threats to our environment don't stop at national borders and the EU is a powerful force for improving the quality of our environment across the North West, across the UK and across the continent. I am humbled by the support of my colleagues from Liberal parties across Europe to take forward this exciting work."
