In the Hallow Ward of Malvern Hills District Council Liberal Democrats scored a spectacular gain from the Tories in the key West Worcestershire parliamentary seat. There were three other principal council by-elections held on 3rd September. Labour held one seat and lost one to the Tories. The Tories lost a seat to an Independent.
