Another fright for the Conservatives

There were nine County/Borough/District level by-elections held on 22nd October. Eight went to the defending party including the Abingdon Dunmore Ward of Vale of White Horse DC which was held by a young energetic Lib Dem against fierce Conservative opposition. The Conservatives had a fright however in the Nevile Ward of Rushcliffe BC where Lib Dem David Allen came within 13 votes of taking the seat from them, and in the Eriswell & the Rows Ward of Forest Heath DC where the Conservative margin was cut to 54 votes by a massive swing of 39.6% to our candidate John Smith.
