Commiserations Mike

Commiserations must go to Mike Turner our candidate in the Clifton Ward by-election. He and his team worked hard, pounding the streets for several weeks in atrocious weather conditions to knock on doors and to distribute leaflets. We haven't fought this seat before but can take considerable heart from the welcome we received on the doorstep.

What is very evident from the above is that, whilst nationally the Conservatives might be doing a little bit better, that's not the case in Fylde, as the recent County Council elections showed when they lost two seats they expected to win. We congratulate Len Davies the winning candidate. However, he has a very much-reduced majority, only winning by a narrow margin which isn't surprising given the unpopularity of the present administration locally.
