26th November not such a good day for the Conservatives

November 30, 2009 10:28 AM

The Conservatives may have hung onto Clifton ward by the skin of their teeth but LibDem Edith Longden comfortably took the Blackbrook seat of High Peak District Council away from them. They also lost the Stratford Alveston seat of Stratford on Avon DC to LibDem Tony Cronin and the St. Austell Bay seat of Cornwall Unitary Authority to LibDem John Oxenham. Conservatives came 5th, with only 32 votes, in the Halewood South ward of Knowsley MBC and failed to win the Northop ward of Flintshire UA. They hung on in Wirral and in the Bushey Heath ward of Hertsmere BC where LibDem Anita Ownsworth increased her share of the vote by 6.8% to come second.
