St Annes Tip Decision to be called in!

The decision to close St. Anne's Tip could well be 'called in' by the Liberal Democrat Group on Lancashire Country Council. A 'call in' requires the council to reconsider the decision that has been made and could even cause the decision to be overturned !! Local Conservatives realise that this facility closure is a real voter loser, with the 2011 borough elections due about a month after the proposed closure date.

However rumours are circulating that the tip could close even earlier! If this were the case, the promised improvements at Saltcotes Tip to enable it to cope with an increased volume of waste for recycling are unlikely to have been completed. The site is managed on behalf of Lancashire County Council by SITA. The contract with SITA is up for renewal in 2011.
