CABINET SYSTEM under fire again

The Cabinet system of decision making came under fire again last week as Tory councillors pushed through decisions without significant regard for the views of other councillors. Opposition amendments and suggestions about key decisions were ignored as Tory councillors stuck to the agreed party line despite having misgivings about some of the decisions. (cont .......

"The Cabinet system works in other authorities' says Ashton Ward Cllr. Tony Ford, but it isn't being allowed to work as effectively as it could in the Fylde due to the way scrutiny committees are structured and opposition councillors are prevented from speaking against or questioning vital decisions. Fylde Libdem councillors will continue to fight to improve the decision-making system.
