Conservative Whip withdrawn from Fylde MP Mark Menzies
The Conservative MP for Fylde, Mark Menzies, has had the whip withdrawn over alleged misuse of campaign funds.
The Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Fylde, Mark Jewell, commented “Why does this not surprise me? Having previously quit as a ministerial aide and now having the whip withdrawn, it is clear that Mark Menzies is not fit to represent the people of Fylde.
The Conservative party have known about this since December and are only now taking action when it is in the public domain.”
Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Daisy Cooper said it was “frankly appalling” that the Conservative Party had been aware of the allegations for more than three months.”
Mark Jewell added, “Whenever there is an election for Fylde the Liberal Democrats will strongly contest this seat.”
Mark Menzies disputes the allegations against him.
